The Kings won a nail biter last night in what should have been a blowout. But playing against playoff contenders is never an easy thing and at the end of the day, a wins a win.
Harrison Barnes came out firing last night, burying 7 from deep and finishing the game with 32 points. He said his beard isn’t being shaved until the team reaches .500 and, boy, with the way he came out last night, I can tell it must be starting to feel itchy.
Jabari Parker made his debut and put out a mediocre performance. He went 1/6 from the floor with 4 points and 4 boards. Despite his lack of numbers last night, Parker did show to be an unselfish player, looking for his teammates when he had the ball and setting screens for them.
Hopefully Parker continues to progress with this team and finds a perfect role within the lineup.
But when it’s all said and done the Kings won last night and today is Friday so there is plenty of reasons for celebration.
The team suits up again tomorrow at 12:30 p.m. at the Staples Center to face off against the Clippers, a team Sacramento routed last meeting in the same location with the help of Kawhi Leonard’s absence.
This game might not have the same results as last as it is the Clippers’ first game back since the All Star break, meaning the team will have had ample rest prior to tip-off.
Of course, the Kings could catch a break with Paul George and Patrick Beverly currently listed as day-to-day. But even if they miss tomorrow’s game, a win is anything but certain.
For me, I’m going to enjoy last night’s win and go into the weekend with the joy of a Kings classic: a one-game winning streak. If they make it two against the Clippers then so be it, but perhaps with low expectations, disappointment is impossible.
